Cyclo Cross Championships for Melbourne
For all the budding cyclocrossers amongst us...the chance of a National Jersey!
This is the first time that an Australian cyclocross event, a hybrid of mountain biking and road racing, will be sanctioned by the International Cycling Union (UCI).
“A UCI-sanctioned national championship is important for raising the profile of the category in Australia,” said Cyclo-Cross Commission Chair Gemma Kernich.
The event will be held on Saturday 10 August on a purpose-built course at Cranwell Park in Maribyrnong. The elite course is expected to include many technical sections concluding with a steep hill climb, making it one of the toughest in Australia.
The following day Darebin Parklands will host the final round of the Cyclocross National Series.
