Aussie Alpine Raid

On Sunday the 28th, we set off on the second Aussie mountain Raid hosted by La Fuga.  Across the French Alps we’ll head - from the tranquil and placid south shores of Lake Geneva (Evian-les-bains) to the bustling beaches and deep blue waters of the Cote d’Azur (Nice).  Many returning faces from last year’s Raid Pyrenean, and some new folks eager to share their passion with fellow cyclists and glutton for a little mid-summer mountainous torment.

The course is based on “La Route des Grandes Alpes”, which was originally constructed as a tourist link between Lake Geneva and the French Riviera.  It was built between 1909 and 1937 and has some of the most awe-inspiring roads, spectacular alpine villages, historic monuments, and more amazing mountain passes than you can shake a stick at.

Our 900km journey will take us over nearly 20 cols - approximately 21,000 meters of climbing. Yeah, it’s a doozy, but we get 2 rest days to recover along the way!

Sounds like a great trip. To keep following this blog just go to:
