Today started and with a train ride to Annecy and finished with a train trip back from Albertville.
We are very close to Switzerland and the Alps loom large

On long climbs these kilometer posts assume great significance.
They give the distance to the top (here 11km) and average gradient for the next kilometer (8%).
Sometimes they seem a very long way apart.
The hills are alive with the sound of Alain von Trapp.
