A few notes on the ride.
Don's complex weather computer modelling worked a treat. The predicted perfect weather eventuated and we were blessed with cool conditions going up to be welcomed by a splash of warm sunshine at the summit,
On the first ascent, Don led the charge and took line honours. As it turned out, the more experienced members (Steve & Ian) paced themselves more sensibly and were able to lead the way on the second ascent.
Phil snubbed his nose at compact cranks etc impressed one and all with a truly heroic grind up the 17 km climb, and then another one.
All in all, a very satisfactory hit out. Thanks to Don for organising the excursion.
I was allowed to have a meat pie, pastie & vanilla slice with no adverse comments from anyone.
