France 2013: Day Ten

The forecast today was for early rain. The boys were ready.

First coffee stop of the day

Peter felt obliged to add to the flow of the mighty Rhone

The hero climb of the day: Col du Grand Colombier
18kms climb and average gradient of 8.5%
Serious stuff.

Having a rear tyre blow out on the ascent meant that this was my view of the way back to Chambery
Thankfully an excellent local bus service operates on Sunday.

Last night's Italian dinner was possibly a trip low light.
The old chap at the table next to us took one look at his meal and promptly had a heart attack.
However the serving platter was interesting.

Do they brew beer "made from the clean fresh mountain waters of the Rhone?" If so it would be rough justice if Mr Scissorhands took ill!

Weren't those umbrellas used in the London Olympics opening ceremony?
