Cadel in Melbourne








The historic victory of 2011 Tour de France winner Cadel Evans will be celebrated at Fed Square with the only public event at lunch time on Friday 12 August. Cycling fans, sporting enthusiasts and all proud Victorians will be able to come together to celebrate and congratulate Cadel.


Cadel Evans became the first Australian champion and only the third non-European champion in the race's 98-year history when he won the 2011 Tour de France on 24 July. The Tour de France is the world's most prestigious and gruelling bike race, held over a three-week period in 21 stages and covering some 3,430 kilometres.


Cadel will be riding from the National Gallery of Victoria along St Kilda Road to arrive at Fed Square Main Stage approximately 12.15pm - 12.45pm. Highlights of Cadel' s 2011 Tour de France Victory will begin on the Big Screen in the Main Square from 11.00am.
